On September 09, 2024, Region 3 issued a Notice of Refusal of Admission (NORA) to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to refuse admission of an unregistered pesticide being imported by Rochem Americas, Inc. through the Port of Philadelphia (#1101). It is
a violation of FIFRA to sell or distribute unregistered pesticides within the USA; the item in question made pesticidal claims to remove microorganisms and microbiological layers from osmosis membranes used in water treatment processes. The importer has the option to export or destroy the violative product and must provide to EPA documentation of the action. The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture was copied on the NORA. FIFRA registration violations are exempt from EJ screen.
