On December 6, 2024, EPA issued a Clean Water Act (CWA) administrative order (Order) to SMC Management Corp. in Watertown MA for failure to submit discharge monitoring reports (DMRs) pursuant to their CWA National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. SMC Management Corp. was authorized to discharge under the Dewatering and Remediation General Permit (DRGP). SMC Management Corp's facility/property in Worcester MA, is an environmental justice area of concern. The Order requires the permittee to submit all outstanding DMRs and continue to report as required by their permit. While EPA is responsible for implementing the Clean Water Act in Massachusetts EPA also notified the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection of these actions.
