On January 30, 2025, EPA filed an expedited settlement agreement (Agreement) entered into with Meineke Car Care Center, Inc. (Meineke) in Laconia, New Hampshire resolving alleged violations of Section 311(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act. The Agreement stems from an incident on July 9, 2024, when a punctured tank at the facility released approximately 275 gallons of waste oil which flowed to a storm drain and into an unnamed stream connected to Lake Winnipesauke. The company responded promptly to the spill and reported the incident to Clean Harbors who contacted the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. The company agreed to pay a $2,500 penalty. EPA notified the State of New Hampshire and the U.S. Coast Guard of this action.
