On May 27, 2025, EPA Region 10 settled with Costco Wholesale (Issaquah, Washington) for violations of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) resulting from the importation/distribution of thousands of pesticide and device units from June 2021 through July 2023. Specifically, EPA found that Costco Wholesale violated FIFRA by distributing unregistered pesticides, misbranded devices, for violating a stop sale order, and failing to file reports required by the Act. Overall, the EPA identified 3,735 separate violations. The company agreed to pay a civil penalty of $3,066,724.
