Chesapeake proposes to conduct environmental compliance audits (the Audit) at Vine Energy Inc. (Vine) oil and gas facilities which Chesapeake acquired on November 1, 2021. The Vine facilities are located in Northern Louisiana. Chesapeake identified and disclosed to EPA a number of potential violations. On August 1, 2022, EPA accepted Chesapeakes proposal to audit compliance at the Vine facilities and agreed with the proposed schedule to complete the Audit by March 31, 2023, and correct violations within sixty (60) days of discovery as required under the New Owner Audit Policy. EPA approved the requests in the company July 14 and July 21, 2022, correspondence to extend the timeline to complete the corrective actions outlined therein.
