On March 11, 2025, EPA filed an Expedited Settlement Agreement (ESA) resolving violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) alleged against Hampford Research Inc. located in Stratford, CT. Hampford Research, which notified as a large quantity generator, manufactures small-batch specialty chemicals for its customers.The company failed to make an accurate hazardous waste determination as to whether a waste was a hazardous waste; failed to offer for transport a hazardous waste shipment for off-site treatment, storage, or disposal along with a hazardous waste manifest; failed to accumulate hazardous waste in a satellite accumulation container that was at or near the point of generation where the waste initially accumulated and failed to conduct annual personnel training and maintain documentation of hazardous waste personnel training. The ESA requires the company to pay a penalty of $6,000 and compliance with RCRA requirements.
