On April 22, 2025, the Regional Judicial Officer approved an expedited settlement agreement with AJ Nonwovens Hampton, LLC (AJ Nonwovens) of Hampton, New Hampshire, resolving violations of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act. On December 7, 2023, EPA Region 1 (the Region) conducted an inspection of AJ Nonwovens' facility and observed violations of the Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity (MSGP). In particular, AJ Nonwovens failed to contain raw materials on site, failed to conduct regular sweeping, failed to conduct corrective actions where visual assessment showed evidence of stormwater pollution, failed to properly conduct routine facility inspections, and failed to maintain an accurate Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. The settlement requires that the company pay a $18,704 penalty. The Region worked in coordination with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services on this case.
