## Summary

This site is located in Sikeston, Missouri, and is a commercial laundry and dry-cleaning facility currently owned by Vestis Services, LLC. A previous owner released PCE at the site that contaminated the subsurface and groundwater. Two public drinking water wells were drawing from the aquifer that underlies the facility, and the facility itself had Vapor Intrusion (VI) from volatile organic compounds in the subsurface. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources had been working with Vestis' predecessor company to conduct cleanup work, but were unable to reach an agreement for a formal order, at which time the site was referred to EPA. EPA instituted a removal action to address the contamination and prevent human exposure to contaminated groundwater and VI. After negotiations, Vestis entered into an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent (ASAOC) with EPA in November of 2024. In the ASAOC, Vestis agreed to conduct cleanup and mitigation operations at its expense. Vestis' obligations include entering into an agreement with the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities to relocate two wells to draw on a deeper, cleaner aquifer at other locations, installing a soil vapor extraction system in its facility to address VI, scoping the extent of the contaminated groundwater plume, and paying EPA's past costs.
