On May 5, 2025, Region III issued a Unilateral Administrative Order (UAO) to City of Chesapeake - Northwest River System for failure to comply with the requirements of Section 1433 of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), as amended by the America's Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) of 2018. Section 1433 required PWSs serving over 3,300 people conduct a Risk and Resilience Assessment.
