On June 30, 2025, Region 3 issued an Expedited Settlement Agreement and Final Order (ESA) that commenced and concluded a matter against Shemas Iron Works. Shemas Iron Works is a scrap and waste materials recycling facility located 2505 Roundtop Road, Middletown, Pennsylvania, 17057. The cited violation is discharging without an NPDES permit. The ESA settles the violations with a civil penalty of $10,000. The ESA was subject to public comment, which ended on March 4, 2025 with no comments received. EPA has consulted with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADP) during the development of this action.
