On August 8, 2025, EPA Region 3 entered a Consent Agreement and Final Order with Interstate Chemical Company, Inc. ( Interstate ) that initiated and resolved alleged violations of FIFRA and its implementing regulations related to the improper labeling of pesticide products. The violations arose from Interstate's distribution and sale of Sodium Hypochlorite 15 Sanitizer (EPA Reg. No. 9613-20001-62215) with misbranded labels that did not follow the EPA-accepted form, as mandated by Section 12(a)(1)(E) of FIFRA. These violations hinder the enforcement of regulatory programs aimed at safeguarding human health and the environment from unreasonable risks posed by pesticides, a primary objective of FIFRA, and this enforcement action is in furtherance of Administrator Zelden's Pillar 1: Clean Air, Land, and Water for Every American. Interstate will pay a penalty of $27,300 within 30 days of the Effective Date. The settlement required Interstate to certify compliance with applicable FIFRA requirements. PDA was provided notice of the planned enforcement action and had no objections.
