On March 25, 2026, EPA Region 6 issued a Final Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) to the City of Rio Rancho, NM Wastewater Treatment Facility. The CAFO was issued in response to CWA Section 301(a) violations that include effluent violations of permit limits and sanitary sewer overflows. The forty-day public notification period was completed and not comments have been received. The violations that this CAFO settles affects the Sandia Pueblo's tribal lands and associated water of the Rio Grande River interests.
