On January 14, 2026, EPA Region 6 issued a Final Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) to the City of Las Vegas, NM Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). The AO was issued in response to alleged CWA Section 301(a) violations that include 1) discharges of pollutants from the facility that exceed the permitted effluent limitations and 2) a reported 10,969,996 gallons unauthorized discharge of WWTF wastewater into the Gallinas River. EPA and the city reached a settlement agreement of $33,600, the forty-day public notification period is complete, and the final CAFO has been issued 1.14.26.
