On September 29, 2025, Region 2 signed an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent with Respondent for the Ventron/Velsicol Superfund Site, located in the Boroughs of Wood-Ridge and Carlstadt, Bergen County, New Jersey. Respondent was the former owner of a portion of the Site and operated a mercury processing plant which reclaimed mercury from both in-house and customer waste products. The Site was listed on the National Priorities List on September 24, 1984; and the Record of Decision for Operable Unit 1 was issued in 2006. Under the Settlement Agreement, Respondent will conduct a Supplemental Investigation and Focused Feasibility Study valued at approximately $885,000 and pay EPA?s future oversight costs.
