EPA is issuing a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) to Gulfport Energy Corporation (Gulfport), with headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and operations in Ohio, to resolve violations regarding the requirements of the New Source Performance Standards for Crude Oil and Natural Gas Facilities for which Construction, Modification, or Reconstruction Commenced after September 18, 2015 (NSPS Subpart OOOOa) and conditions of Gulfport?s Ohio Permits to Install and Operate (PTIOs) at facilities in Ohio.
Specifically, Gulfport failed to repair leaks at 34 of its Ohio well pads within the timeframes prescribed by its Ohio PTIOs and NSPS Subpart OOOOa. We issued Notices and Findings of Violation (NOV/FOVs) on May 21 and July 29, 2024 notifying Gulfport and Ohio EPA of the alleged violations.
This CAFO requires Gulfport to pay a penalty of $454,403 and resolves the NOV/FOVs issued to Gulfport on May 21 and July 29, 2024.
Gulfport has come into compliance so there is no corresponding ACO.
