On April 3, 2025, the EPA signed and finalized an amendment to an administrative order on consent with the Deere and Company (John Deere) relating to a manufacturing facility located in Ankeny, Iowa. The amendment makes changes to an existing order that the parties executed in 1998. Both the order and the amendment relate to the corrective action requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). John Deere has completed investigations and implemented interim actions over the years to address releases of hazardous wastes at the facility resulting from historic operations. With those investigations now concluded, the parties executed the order amendment to memorialize John Deere?s obligation to implement the remaining corrective actions. The EPA directly implements RCRA in the state of Iowa.
