Scott Brass, Inc. violated the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) for Secondary Brass and Bronze Production Plants (40 C.F.R. 60.130 - Subpart M). The company failed to notify the EPA of the construction and testing of four electric furnaces in 1997. The settlement requires that Scott Brass pay a civil penalty of $10,000. Scott Brass was not required to conduct any additional recordkeeping, reporting or testing requirements after the Finding of Violation.
