Pursuant to its authority under Section 104(a) of CERCLA, as amended, 42 U.S.C. Section 9604(a), the EPA incurred response costs at the Saturn Chemical Superfund (Site) located at 1600 New York Avenue, Lawrenceville, Mercer County, New Jersey in response to a release or threat of a release of hazardous substances at the Site. The Site is not listed on the National Priorities List. The U.S. sued Saturn Chemicals, Inc., PolySat, Inc., and Mr. Darryl Manuel, their principal, as potentially responsible parties (PRPs), seeking recovery of past response costs under Section 107(a) of CERCLA, 42 U.S.C. Section 9607(a). Several other parties were brought in as third-party defendants. The case was settled with a consent decree entered on June 25, 2009, for payment of past response costs.
