EPA, Region 5, has entered into a Joint Complaint and Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) with Sunrise Electronics, Inc. (Sunrise), located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The complaint alleged three counts of storage of hazardous waste without a permit by failing to develop, conduct, and maintain records for a hazardous waste management training program; failure to label or mark two hazardous waste storage tanks with the words, Hazardous Waste, and faiure to obtain a tank system assessment prior to storing hazardous waste in a hazardous waste storage tank system. The case was developed from an inspection performed by EPA. Sunrise was assessed a civil penalty of $53,600 plus interest to be paid over six installments.
