U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 has filed an administrative complaint against Dow Corning Corp. for alleged clean-air violations at its 3901 S. Saginaw Road, Midland, Michigan facility. The complaint, which includes a $159,109 proposed penalty, alleges that Dow Corning violated its state operating permit and the Michigan State Implementation Plan regulations.
EPA originally notified Dow in August 2006 that it believed the company was in violation of the Clean Air Act at its Midland facility. Dow has since corrected the alleged violations and is in compliance with its state operating permit, but is liable for the period that it was out of compliance.
