Fluor-Hanford, contractor to U.S. DOE, shipped used transformer containing PCB fluid from DOEs Hanford Nuclear Reservation to metals broker Twin City Metals (TCM). Spill of this PCB fluid occurred on June 1, 2006. On June 2, 2006, PCB-contaminated transformer was transported to Joseph Simon & Sons (JS&S) in Tacoma, WA. On June 8, 2006, sampling data identified PCB contamination in transformer fluid, prompting cleanup activities at TCM and JS&S.
