Vermont Mill Properties Superfund Site
On March 25, 2008, EPA signed an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent ( Settlement Agreement ) for the Vermont Mill Properties Superfund Site in Bennington, Vermont (ÂSiteÂ). Pursuant to the terms of the Settlement Agreement, Respondents Benmont Mill Properties, Inc. and Mace Security International, Inc., agreed to pay for a perform a removal action at the Site.
On January 24 and 25, 2008, personnel from EPAÂs Removal, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know programs performed a site investigation. Hazardous substances identified on the Site that pose a threat of release include but are not limited to: containers labeled flammable, toxic, reactive, corrosive and explosive chemicals; oil and oily material; and more than 50,000 pounds of 2-chlorobenzalmalonitrile a tear gas agent.
