Referral to DOJ with respect to four matters requesting the filing of a proof of claim in bankruptcy in connection with the Chapter 11 bankruptcy case filed by Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation (Kaiser Acc), or to otherwise preserve EPA's rights with respect to Kaiser ACC's potential future environmental obligations. The bar date in the Kaiser Bankruptcy case has been set at January 31, 2003. The referral identifies three sites involving obligations under Section 107(a) of CERCLA, for which the Region requests that DOJ file a proof of claim.
