This referral requests that DOJ file a proof of claim against Horsehead Industrires, Inc. and Horsehead Resource Development Company, Inc (collectively Horsehead ) in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Sourthern District of New York. The proof of claim is necessary in order to recover response costs incured at the Palmerton Zince Pile Superfuld Site ( Site ) incurred under CERCLA in excess of $22 million. Horsehead is also legally obligated to reimburse EPA's oversight costs in connection with OU1 of the Site in the amount of $252,745.00.
