## Abstract

EPA is approving a maintenance plan and a request to redesignate the Charlotte-Gastonia area from nonattainment to attainment for ozone (O<INF>3) submitted on November 12, 1993, by the State of North Carolina through the North Carolina Department of Environment, Health, and Natural Resources. Subsequently on December 16, 1994, January 6, 1995, and May 23, 1995, the State submitted supplementary information which included refined modeling and revisions to the maintenance plan. The Charlotte-Gastonia O<INF>3 nonattainment area includes Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties. EPA is also approving the State of North Carolina's 1990 baseline emissions inventory because it meets EPA's requirements regarding the approval of baseline emission inventories.
