Commercial Availability of Navigation Devices and Compatibility Between Cable Systems and Consumer Electronics Equipment

In this document the Commission adopts rules that set technical and other criteria that manufacturers would have to meet in order to label or market unidirectional digital cable televisions and other unidirectional digital cable products as "digital cable ready." The rules also require cable operators to support operation of unidirectional digital cable products on digital cable systems and set limits on the levels of content protection that could be triggered by MVPDs. This action is taken to further the digital television transition and the commercial availability of navigation devices pursuant to section 629 of the Communications Act.
