## Abstract

In this document the Commission amends its rules to adopt objective technical standards defining "unacceptable interference" to non-cellular licensees operating in the 800 MHz band and procedures detailing 800 MHz licensees' responsibilities and expectations regarding abatement of such interference. The Commission also adopts rules reconfiguring the 800 MHz band and designating ten megahertz of spectrum in the 1.9 GHz band available for the provision of commercial mobile radio services (CMRS). The Commission took these steps to solve the problem of increasing interference to public safety communications in the 800 MHz band. These rules are intended to abate this interference as well as making additional spectrum available for the provision of new services.
