Abstract
NMFS is requiring all Virginia permitted fishermen deploying pound nets with leaders measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm) or greater stretched mesh and leaders with stringers to tie up such leaders in the Virginia waters of the mainstem Chesapeake Bay and tributaries for a period of 30 days. This action is necessary to protect threatened and endangered sea turtles.
