Abstract

NMFS issues this direct final rule prohibiting the possession in, or harvest from, the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Atlantic sturgeon from Maine through Florida. The intent of the rule is to provide protection for the overfished stock of Atlantic sturgeon, to ensure the effectiveness of state regulations, and to aid in the rebuilding of the stock.
