Abstract This application outlines a proposal for the 12th Biennial International 22q11.2 Conference – Celebrating 22 Years of Education and Collaboration. As with previous meetings, we will foster and promote basic science research and improved clinical care for the 22q11.2 deletion and duplication syndromes (22q11.2DS; 22q11.2DupS). Our conference mission is the dissemination of data and information, and implementation of best practices and guidelines by providing a space where researchers and clinicians can build capacity with one another, support education for junior investigators, and develop partnerships with stakeholders and others. We welcome all individuals regardless of sex, age, race, ethnicity, range of abilities, sexual orientation and gender identity. The conference will take place over four days, June 23-26, 2020, with the first day earmarked for researchers and clinicians to share updates on ongoing collaborative initiatives, including those funded by NIH, follow up on published results, and work towards updating existing but now outdated clinical practice guidelines. Concurrently, a stakeholders meeting will be held to gain insights in the areas that family organization leaders believe to be those most critical to families of individuals with these syndromes. Thereafter, the meeting will follow with formal presentations by invited speakers, platform presentations from selected abstracts, and poster sessions. The target audience will be scientists and clinicians interested in or actively studying 22q11.2 related conditions. The program will include invited speakers and succinct presentations of new and ongoing research followed by question and answer periods to promote active discussions. Networking time will be included to promote collaboration and exchange of ideas. Registration will be open to experienced and junior scientists and clinicians as well as trainees working on 22q11.2DS/22q11.2DupS. Sessions will be formally assessed by having individuals complete a questionnaire with results analyzed to generate improvements in future biennial conferences. The findings from the conference will be disseminated by publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The final program will be freely downloadable from the 22q11.2 Society website. Our objective is to host a multi-disciplinary conference to present new discoveries in all of the many medical, developmental and neurobehavioral aspects of the 22q11.2DS/DupS conditions, as well as to educate the next generation of basic researchers and clinician scientists with an eye towards identifying potential new treatment modalities. This conference strives to expand ascertainment, clinical care and education of and about these syndromes and their related medical and cognitive interventions. The ultimate aim is to improve the health and well-being of babies, children, and adults with these syndromes, and thus their families and communities in the US and across the world, through the stimulation of ...
