## Abstract

Summary for Alterations and Renovations.
The major objective of The Center for Pre-Clinical Cancer Research (Cancer COBRE) is to identify clinically
relevant mechanisms of human cancer using models that closely reflect the disease state in the context of the
tumor microenvironment. To enhance the efforts to create the center, we will establish the Pre-Clinical
Evaluation Core (PCEC) to provide scientific expertise and technical support for the PJI projects. The proposed
PCEC will be located in Room 2202 on the second floor of the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine (LSU SVM).
The goal of the proposed renovation project is to provide a dedicated space for the PCEC Core which will
centralize the advanced preclinical research expertise and state-of-the-art instrumentation for the use by the
PJIs to perform proposed studies in this application. The renovation will facilitate the development of a
centralized, standardized and optimized resource center for the Cancer COBRE. This will be accomplished
under the following aims: Aim 1: To build a dedicated Pre-Clinical Evaluation Core facility for the COBRE in
order to increase the efficiency of advanced preclinical evaluation of human cancer models and to enhance
and foster collaboration among PJIs and the research community. Aim 2: To renovate the existing Room 2202
to provide technical expertise for advanced cancer cell culture systems and state-of-the-art instrumentation for
use by the PJIs of this proposal and other investigators in the COBRE program.
