> **NIH FDA U19** · NH STATE DEPT/HLTH STATISTICS/DATA MGMT · 2020 · $96,250

## Abstract

Discipline A: Microbiology
Analytical Track 2: Human Food Product Testing
To improve food testing surveillance programs through the microbiological analysis of food
products and environmental samples. The test results generated by these laboratories can be
used to remove adulterated food from commerce and aide regulatory inspection programs in
conducting investigations.
The NH PHL plans to test ready to eat products for Salmonella, pathogenic E. coli and Salmonella
over the course of the 5-year grant period. The NH PHL will start with 250 samples of a single
commodity/hazard pair, the commodity will be ready to eat products collected by trained
community Health Officers, the NH PHL will test for pathogenic E.coli. During the 5-year grant
period the NH PHL plans to expand testing to additional matrices and organisms.
NH PHL will participate and pass annual proficiency tests, attend the LFFM Face-to-Face meeting
and monthly calls, maintain ISO 17025 accreditation, maintain facilities and personnel necessary
to complete the work proposed, and provide a detailed quarterly summary of all samples collected
and analyzed. The NH PHL will maintain a valid 20.88 agreement with the FDA.
