Discipline C: Radiochemistry Analytical Track 2: Radiochemistry Capacity/Capability Development The NH PHL Radiochemistry Laboratory plans to expand its radionuclide testing capability for tritium (H-3) during year 1 of this agreement. In this expansion capability effort, NH Radiochemistry Laboratory intends to carry out the following specifics: 1. Purchase a new Liquid Scintillation Counter to analyze for tritium (a low energy beta- emitter) 2. Train designated staff in the analysis of foods beta-emitters using LSC specific procedures; 3. Demonstrate competency through a proficiency test offered by FDA or another suitable proficiency testing program or a laboratory developed competency exercise. 4. Radiochemistry Laboratory staff will attend the annual LFFM Face-to-Face Meeting. This capability development will allow the NH PHL to expand the already significant capabilities present in the laboratory, as well as the national capacity in the detection of tritium in food products. FDA has identified this specific need, and the NH PHL has the personnel and expertise to provide this expansion.
