## Abstract

MICROBILOGY ABSTRACT
The Agricultural Chemistry Laboratory proposes one microbiology discipline project for
analytical track 3. This project is comprised of the analyses of 100 samples to improve animal
food testing surveillance through the microbiological analysis of animal food products. The test
results generated by the proposed projects can be used to remove adulterated animal food from
commerce and aide regulatory inspection programs in conducting investigations. Under
microbiology analytical track 3: animal food product testing, the microbiology section of the
Laboratory plans to assess 100 samples of dry pet food for Salmonella spp., Listeria
monocytogenes and coliform counts using Vidas, Vitek, BAX, and Tempo technologies.
