SC-DHEC PHL-NFSDX The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC-DHEC), Public Health Laboratory (PHL), serves as the state public health laboratory working towards improving the quality of life for South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and environment. The overall goal of this project is the support and development at the national level of an integrated food safety system. One way to accomplish this is through the use of electronic sharing of information with the Food and drug Administration (FDA) in real-time. Real-time data electronic data exchange will streamline data sharing and allow the FDA to rapidly respond and enforce regulatory compliance. As SC works to implement a new Laboratory Information Management system the necessary infrastructure will be developed and built in conjunction with the FDA. This will ensure that when the new LIMS goes live in the spring of 2021 that electronic messaging capabilities are established. This supports the overall goal of this project to support the development at the national level of an integrated food safety system.
