## Abstract

Discipline C: Radiochemistry Track 1 – Food Defense 
The goal of the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) Radiochemistry Laboratory is to 
enhance the capacity and capabilities for food defense in support of an integrated food safety 
system. Any Radiochemistry food defense samples collected will be screened for the presence 
of radionuclides using the method for Gamma Screening with a High Purity Germanium 
Detector for gamma emitters such as Ba-140, Cs-134, Cs-137 and I-131 according to the 
ISDH’s triage procedures for radionuclides.
