Abstract

Radiochemistry – Tract 1 Food Defense Narrative The Arizona Department of Health Services Laboratory (ASPHL) Radiation Measurements Laboratory proposes to collect and analyze select foodstuffs for gamma emitting radionuclides as well as screen for and quantify, gross alpha and gross beta activity in support of FDA Food Defense efforts. The program will collect and analyze 100 samples per year for 5-years using validated FDA methods for the determination of radionuclides in foodstuff and participate in all FDA activities, exercises, trainings, and proficiencies so as to continue to enhance the nation’s food defense radiochemical testing capabilities.
