## Abstract

The University of Massachusetts (UMass) Center for Clinical and Translational Science (UMCCTS) was organized
with the vision of transforming clinical and translational research (CTR) and education across the five
UMass campuses and our clinical partners. Here we describe our plans for building Network Capacity. Multisite
clinical research or clinical trials can enhance CTR efficiency and increase impact by providing opportunities
for collaboration and access to a larger and more diverse pool of eligible subjects. This is important for
early-phase trials of products for rare diseases, as well as later stage trials for more common diseases. However,
planning for and implementation of multi-site clinical research and clinical trials differs from that for single
site trials and may incur additional inter-institutional administrative challenges. Our UMCCTS Translational
Research Accelerator (TRAcs) optimizes the quality and efficiency of CTR from study inception to results dissemination at our hub. In this section, we will discuss how we will extend TRAcs to consolidate institutional
support for multi-site clinical research, clinical trials implementation, and to serve as a liaison to the NCATS
central and network resources.
