Abstract

Alterations and Renovations - Abstract Western Nevada College is a comprehensive community college serving western Nevada as part of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Campuses are located in Carson City, Fallon, and Gardnerville. WNC offers a wide range of educational opportunities with a focus on accessible pathways into healthcare careers, transfer degrees, and undergraduate research for students. The biology/chemistry lab space located on the WNC Fallon Campus in Virgil Getto Hall, has not had significant improvements since the 1990’s. An updated and redesigned WNC Fallon Biology and Chemistry science lab will improve the level of the ongoing undergraduate INBRE research. The remodel would also assist WNC students who are taking their prerequisite chemistry and biology courses to enter a transfer biology or chemistry program or enter into the healthcare field. Funds requested in this proposal will be leveraged with approximately $777,000 from the Western Nevada College Foundation to complete this $1 million project.
