## Abstract

The Administrative Core is designed to allow OCTRI to achieve its central mission and overall goals. Those
goals are to catalyze research, engage stakeholders, and train the translational workforce. To achieve this,
we have developed a dynamic and flexible leadership model in which each member brings specific expertise
that aligns with one of the overall goals, but each member is also focused on the central OCTRI mission. The
group is aided by leaders of the Cores, and advised by superb external and internal advisory groups. Open
lines of communication will be maintained with all stakeholders, including the partners, who with OCTRI
leadership, comprise a new OCTRI Council. The partners are regional institutions with unique strengths that
complement those of OHSU. In each case, specific expectations and processes are defined, so that
collaboration will be productive. We will fully incorporate the principles of a learning healthcare institution in
all new initiatives. All processes and new approaches will be subject to frequent evaluation, and new
initiatives will be evaluated, using Results-Based Accountability. We will align our process improvement
efforts with the OHSU Performance Excellence process (OPEx), which has been highly successful for the
Healthcare Enterprise. To achieve these goals, we will pursue the following specific aims:
Specific Aim 1: Implement the new governance plan, leadership structure, and administrative support
model to catalyze CTR, engage stakeholders, and expand the translational workforce.
Specific Aim 2: Implement and communicate a shared strategic vision for the OCTRI Council and
Cores.
Specific Aim 3: Develop sustainable models for services supported by OCTRI.
Specific Aim 4: Implement an evaluation and continuous improvement structure, with empowered staff,
that will establish OCTRI as an exemplary learning organization.
