## Abstract

Tennessee PRAMS Component A
RFA-DP-21-001(UO1)
 Project Abstract
The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) submits this application for RFA-DP-21-001,
Tennessee Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), Component A: Core
Surveillance. This application will allow for continued monitoring of behaviors and experiences
before, during, and after pregnancy among women with a recent live birth.
Tennessee PRAMS will sample approximately 100 mothers that are 2-6 months postpartum from
the provisional birth file. Sampled mothers will be given three opportunities to complete the
PRAMS questionnaire by mail. Non-respondents will then be contacted by phone, with up to 15
contact attempts per telephone number.
The objectives of the Tennessee PRAMS program are to 1) monitor prevalence and trends for
maternal and child health indicators, including emerging issues, 2) increase dissemination of
findings to appropriate audiences, including health care professionals, and 3) use PRAMS data to
inform programs and develop relevant policies that will improve the health of women of child-
bearing age and their infants. These objectives will be met through 1) adherence to the CDC
PRAMS protocol for accurate and timely data collection, 2) creating and distributing factsheets
and reports using PRAMS data, and 3) increasing availability and access of PRAMS data to the
TDH Title V Program and other internal and external collaborators.
