The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Brown University/Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island (WIH), along with our Yale University site, has a strong commitment to a continued high-level of participation in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Maternal Fetal Medicine Units (MFMU) Network for the purpose of completing the ongoing Network trials and ongoing or planned registries. The focus of these trials and registries is understanding and ameliorating the pernicious problems of prematurity (and its sequelae) and maternal morbidity and mortality. We have extensive experience in performing clinical trials and observational studies in these areas, are recruiting for all of the ongoing protocols, and have a strong, stable, and proven research infrastructure. We have been a participating center for the past four 5-year cycles of the MFMU Network and the addition of our Yale site has only augmented our capabilities, adding some 5,500 deliveries to WIH’s ~9,000 deliveries. We remain well positioned to be a productive contributor to the Network and will continue to bring our experienced, competent, and enthusiastic research team to bear on the ongoing protocols with the goal of helping the MFMU Network reach its fullest potential.
