## Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY – Core 4: Clinical Research and Informatics Core
The Clinical Research and Informatics Core (CRIC) will provide a comprehensive, multi-
disciplinary resource for the design and analysis of CF-related clinical and translational research
studies focused on diabetes, other endocrine disorders, digestive and hepatic disorders, nutrition,
and lifestyle behaviors. The CRIC will allow formalized, ongoing and collaborative relationships
between CF investigators and provide an outstanding team of biostatisticians, data scientists,
clinicians, and database engineers to assist investigators in utilizing appropriate and innovative
experimental approaches and statistical methodology. This core will serve as a focal point from
which investigators draw statistical and clinical expertise for planning, management, and analysis
for their studies. The two major goals of this core will be: (1) to develop a mechanism for scientific
oversight, including support for clinical and statistical expertise, and (2) to develop a secure,
HIPPA compliant, cloud-based “Georgia CF Data Warehouse” that will serve as a data repository
for CF-related clinical and laboratory data gathered from our 891 CF patients (701 in the
Emory+Children’s program in Atlanta, 190 in the program at Augusta University).
