The Contraception Research Branch (CRB) within the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) supports research to develop products that can disrupt oogenesis, spermatogenesis, normal ovulation, sperm maturation and/or function affording safe and effective contraceptives that can be implemented for men and/or women. Having the appropriate expertise available to review, evaluate, and provide expert consultation on product development is a necessary component and key for successful oversight. To this end, the NICHD’s CRB seeks to support grant and contract awardee efforts through the establishment of consulting resources available to staff, specifically, patentability advisement and opinion consulting. These resources would provide crucial input on product development themed grants and contracts for NICHD staff who oversee networks, cooperative agreements, and/or contracts, as needed.
