## Abstract

PROJECT SUMMARY
The Research Expanding Access to Child Health (REACH) Center is a collaborative health research system
bridging biomedical research and clinical care at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (AIDHC) in Wilmington,
Delaware. The REACH Center will support the development, evaluation, and implementation of innovative
stakeholder-engaged technology-enhanced interventions and models of care to overcome the complex socio-
ecological factors responsible for inequitable access to pediatric health care and child health. Optimal state-of-
the-art research space near the hospital, convenient for both our clinician scientists and stakeholders, designed
specifically for the conduct of technology-enabled health services research is an essential component for the
success of the REACH Center. In order to facilitate the Aims of the REACH Center, we are requesting Alteration
and Renovation support for a dedicated and consolidated research space in the Rockland Center One building
at AIDHC. The proposed specialization and modernization of existing space links to the aims, projects, and
research cores of the COBRE and will provide sophisticated, networked, collaborative space for COBRE faculty,
staff, and stakeholder partners. The REACH Center is an expansion of the Nemours Center for Healthcare
Delivery Science (CHDS), located in the Rockland One building. The Construction Management team at
Nemours will oversee the renovation of 2,680 square feet of existing space in Rockland One, adjacent to CHDS,
to create a clinical research suite for the REACH Center. The suite will consist of a participant consultation room,
secure database room, private workspaces, semi-private workstations, touchdown spaces, and a conference
room. The space is flexible to accommodate the needs of the REACH Center leadership (MPIs, Program
Manager), the Research Core Directors and their Core staff, and a diverse range of research projects led by
current and future project leaders. Alterations and renovations to space are required to create an environment
conducive to the successful conduct of research bridging biomedical research and clinical care at AIDHC. The
space will allow us to build capacity in Delaware for innovative programs of research leveraging technology to
address inequities in child health and to provide resources to increase the number of independent
multidisciplinary investigators in our health system committed to pediatric healthcare delivery research focused
on reducing inequities in child health.
