# Geographical Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program (GMaP) P30 Administrative Supplement to Strengthen Research, Training, and Outreach

> **NIH NIH P30** · FRED HUTCHINSON CANCER RESEARCH CENTER · 2021 · $201,110

## Abstract

The Geographic Management of Program (GMaP) initiative is a supplement to the CCSG that is
focused on strengthening cancer health disparities research and enhancing workforce diversity.
This is accomplished by offering robust communication and dissemination of information to
regional trainees, early stage investigators (ESIs), and potential students about the regional hub
and opportunities that exist for them to enter biomedical research (especially cancer health
disparities). These opportunities include: research stimulus awards, workshops, pilot grants and
an expert grant review/mentorship program. Second, the creation of a virtual biorepository
database reflective of racial/ethnic minority cancer site data available from across the region to
be shared with regional trainees and students to create and stimulate new research. Lastly, as
tracking outcomes of the hub are vital, we anticipate conducting a comprehensive survey
evaluating GMaP supported career and research development opportunities and assessing
potential sustainability of the existing infrastructure beyond funding from this final supplement
cycle.
