## Abstract

Project Summary/Abstract
The goal of this application is to create a consortium of Cancer Centers that will communicate and
coordinate with the NCI and with electronic health record (EHR) vendors to facilitate and harmonize rapid
implementation of EHR investigative treatment plans and related clinical decision support (CDS) for the
conduct of NCTN clinical trials.
Specific AIMS include:
Aim 1. To analyze similarities and differences of research EHR treatment plan and related
clinical CDS implementation across Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium (BTCRC)
institutions, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and informing the design of a
software-based EHR toolkit to speed such implementation.
Aim 2. To develop and implement a novel software-based EHR toolkit that speeds activation of NCTN
clinical trials by facilitating single-instance EHR treatment plan development and related CDS.
Aim 3. To prospectively determine the effect of the developed software-based EHR toolkit on time required
to activate NCTN clinical trials, determine user satisfaction with the toolkit, explore software toolkit
dissemination opportunities with NCI and EHR vendors, and promote use of the toolkit through presentation
and publication.
