Abstract

The Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) RCMI-Center for Translational Research in Health Disparities (CTRHD), through this administrative supplement, seeks to establish a Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) in collaboration with the Morehouse Choice Accountable Care Organization, which includes eight Federally Qualified Health Centers and the academic primary healthcare practices of Morehouse Healthcare, located in rural and urban communities across the State of Georgia. The overarching goal of the RCMI CTRHD PBRN is to provide support to build capacity for scientific, administrative, infrastructure, and logistical support to enable ACO practices and health care systems to participate in health services and clinical research studies. Studies conducted through the RCMI-supported PBRN will be pragmatic and deployment-focused, incorporating stakeholder perspectives and criteria used for decision making. Aim 1. To conduct a needs assessment and feasibility study necessary to design the capacity and infrastructure requirements that will enable ACO member practices and health systems to participate in PBRN sponsored research studies. Aim 2. To build and maintain established relationships with relevant constituent groups of the ACO, including patients, clinicians, administrators, payors, relevant federal and state agencies to inform research questions, gain input about the feasibility and clinical interest of research topics. Aim 3. To maintain accessibility to relevant patient, clinician, and health system data, including the capacity for study-specific data management systems that allow for electronic data capture and remote patient monitoring By implementing these aims, the RCMI CTRHD PBRN will identify resources and processes for scalable and sustainable practice infrastructure for recruiting ACO practices, providers and systems to inform, develop, and test interventions that will ultimately improve routine health care services for health disparity populations served by the PBRN.
