## Abstract

Project Summary: Cytometry and Imaging Core
The key objective of the Cytometry and Imaging Core is to enhance the overall productivity of the Program by
providing a cost-effective, centralized, essential resource for the use of laser scanning cytometry (LaSC), 3D
imaging, cellular pre-enrichment, and flow cytometry. The Core will provide i) a centralized resource of LaSC for
all 3 program projects; ii) a centralized, cost-effective resource of flow cytometry for Project 1 and 2 to access two
flow cytometry analyzers, a 16-parameter flow cytometer Attune NxT and an 8-parameter flow cytometer Canto II; iii)
a centralized resource of 3D confocal imaging for all 3 program projects; iv) a resource of expert advice and
consultation in the design and analysis of complex, multicolor flow cytometry and LaSC experiments including
FlowJo software licenses in flow cytometry analysis and iCys cytometric analysis software (CompuCyte) in
LaSC for all 3 program projects; and v) a centralized resource of cell enrichment to save time and money for
Project 1 and 2. By providing a cost-effective, centralized resource for research projects to use LaSC, 3D
imaging, cellular pre-enrichment, and flow cytometry, the Cytometry and Imaging Core will help further the
Programs goals of understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the effect and
effectiveness of blood transfusion in the peri-transplant setting.
