The Administrative Core (Core A) of the Antiviral Countermeasures Development Center (AC/DC) will provide effective leadership, oversight, coordination, administration, and evaluation of all Center activities across the 12 participating sites. The primary goal of Core A is to ensure the seamless operation of all components of the AC/DC such that the Research Projects and Scientific Cores remain focused on the overall mission: To develop orally available direct-acting clinical candidates against existing and emerging pandemic viral threats. Core A will facilitate collaboration and communication among Center investigators and be responsible for the overall scientific direction of the Center. This includes monitoring and evaluating progress of the Research Projects, promoting new research ideas through administration of Developmental Research Projects (DRP), and mentoring new investigators in the field of antiviral research through Mentored Projects (MP). The Core will be responsible for maintaining fiscal oversight of all Center components including Research Projects and Scientific Cores and managing all subcontracts. Core A will ensure compliance with all local and federal regulations. The Core will coordinate Steering Committee (SC) and Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) meetings, prepare annual progress reports, and interact with other NIAID AViDD centers nationally and with NIAID program officials. The overall goals of the Administrative Core are: (1) Provide effective scientific and operational management of the AC/DC; (2) Coordinate the evaluation and oversight of the AC/DC; (3) Administer the Developmental Research Projects and Mentored Projects to promote new ideas and new investigators and to enhance diversity in the field of antiviral research.
